A new Tomb Raider game is in development! But for mobile. Also in this Night Watch: The Last of Us 2 gets a possible next-gen update, the recordings for season 2 of The Witcher have started again and much more!
Welcome to a new Night Watch! In any case, we are off that terrible Monday, the weekend has come a little closer! To ease the suffering of the rest of the work or school week, here’s another dose of new game news for you. Let’s go!
Sequel to The World Ends With You announced
It was already coming as Square Enix launched a teaser site last week: a new game in The World Ends With You series! Yesterday, a new trailer for the upcoming anime revealed, and it has also been announced that a new game will be released, called Neo: The World Ends With You.
Neo: The World Ends With You succeeds the earlier game in the series – which is available on Nintendo DS, Switch and iOS – and is an action RPG. The game features four main characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura, Gen Kobayashi and Miki Yamashita. The characters are called Rindo, Fret, Nagi and Minamimoto.
The game takes place in Shibuya just like the original, and much of the setting is at least similar to the original. There is of course a big difference, and that is that the game is now in three dimensions. Despite that, the combat system remains fairly unchanged. There are still badges and the four characters share the same life bar.
Neo: The World Ends With You should be released on Switch and PlayStation 4 this summer.
Possible next-gen upgrade for The Last of Us: Part 2 in the works
A next-gen upgrade for PlayStation 4 game The Last of Us: Part 2 could be in the works. On the website of American retail chain Best Buy the PS4 version is listed with ‘including the next-gen upgrade’. That is striking, because no next-gen upgrade for the game has been announced yet!
The Last of Us: Part 2 can of course be played via backward compatibility on the PlayStation 5, and that ensures, among other things, that the haptic feedback in the DualSense controller is applied in the game, but a complete upgrade for next-gen is not available yet. Would it be out soon? It could be a mistake from Best Buy, or they know more than we do at the moment … so wait and see!
Update: Unfortunately, the text has now been changed to ‘enhanced for next-gen console’. So it seems Best Buy saw the haptic feedback update as a ‘next-gen upgrade’. Thanks a mistake!
Cyberpunk 2077 developer will not be able to finish the game in 175 hours
It has a bit of a high ‘we from WC duck’ content, but it is still nice for the hype feelings: a developer at CD Projekt Red says he has already put more than 175 hours into a play session of Cyberpunk 2077, and still hasn’t finished the game.
Lukasz Babiel, QA tester, reports this Twitter. He reports thereby he does play slowly, and also plays on the highest difficulty setting, which means he has to use more stealth. He loots ales and really takes his time playing. He does not expect that everyone will need that long to finish the game.
Regardless, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 is going to take quite some time to finish – great, of course, if the game is actually as good as we all hope! Cyberpunk 2077 will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Stadia on December 10.
Demo for F1 2020 now available on consoles
Want to let go of the Max Verstappen in you? That’s just as convenient, because you can now download a demo of F1 2020 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The demo is aimed at My Team. This allows you to create your own team, choose a Formula 2 team member and play your first race weekend in Australia.
You can also check the Austrian Red Bull Ring split-screen. All progress you make will be transferred to the full game, should you feel like buying it after the demo.
Recordings for the second season of The Witcher started again
The makers of the Netflix series based on The Witcher are not happy. Earlier this year, the recordings of the second season had to be stopped due to COVID-19. Those recordings were eventually started again, but at the beginning of this month they had to be stopped again due to an outbreak of the virus on the set.
In the meantime, everything seems to have calmed down, because the recordings started again last week at Arborfield Studios in Reading, reports Redanian Intelligence. Let’s hope that one can now film in one go!
The release date of the second season of The Witcher has not yet been announced, although it is clear that the series should be released in 2021. Furthermore, a third season has also been confirmed and spin-off series are also being made, including The Witcher: Blood Origin.
New Tomb Raider game announced … for smartphones
Square Enix has unveiled Tomb Raider Reloaded, a new Tomb Raider game starring Lara Croft. Before you get too excited: the game has only been confirmed for mobile devices for now. That should be the case in 2021. The game will be free to play and according to the YouTube description offers ‘action arcade’ gameplay.
Tomb Raider Reloaded is being developed by Emerald City Games and the Square Enix London mobile team. Unfortunately, there is no more information yet, except for the teaser below, which looks unique in any case!
Deathloop will use the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the DualSense controller
Deathloop, the upcoming limited-time PS5 exclusive from Prey and Dishonored developer Arkane, will make extensive use of the unique features of the DualSense controller. The developer shared information about it PlayStation Blog.
For example, it is shown that thanks to the haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers you can feel how bullets are loaded into guns. You should also feel it when a gun jams temporarily. Furthermore, you can feel different things depending on the location where you are. Furthermore, you must also experience the different movements you make – running, walking, climbing, etc. – through the vibrations. The speaker in the controller is also used for extra immersion, which should be especially important when firing weapons.
It’s all a bit vague as you can’t feel it yourself yet, but the Guard has played Astro’s Playroom and if anything does prove that the DualSense makes cool things possible, it’s that game. Hopefully Deathloop is able to make that happen!
Deathloop will be released on PlayStation 5 on May 21, 2021. The game will be exclusive to that console for a year.
Teasers for an animated trailer of Immortals Fenyx Rising
Ubisoft will release an animated trailer tomorrow at the end of the day for their upcoming game Immortals Fenyx Rising (formerly known as Gods & Monsters. It has already released three teasers of it. Yes, the Guard knows, teasers for a trailer. Anyway it looks cool! Check out the teasers below.
Immortals Fenyx Rising revolves around Fenyx, a demigod that players assemble themselves to save the Greek gods from destruction on The Golden Isle. The island is divided into nine regions, each with its own Greek god. The game is also very reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with a stamina bar and the option to climb everything.
The game will be released on December 3 for Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Stadia and PC. People who buy a current-gen version first can download a free next-gen update later.
Doom running on a Game & Watch
It doesn’t matter what it is – a console, a microwave or a potato – Doom will and should run on it! Check this out Tumblr-pagina just once.
A week and a half ago, Nintendo released a new Game & Watch to celebrate Mario’s 35th birthday, and of course Doom should and will be playable on that too. YouTuber stacksmashing has taken care of that, as you can see in the video below. A nice ending to this Night Watch, have a nice Tuesday everyone!
