Tom Brady could soon return to football, but this time as an owner rather than an active player.

Brady about to buy a Raiders minority stake

A few weeks ago it was reported that the retired quarterback was in talks to buy a minority stake in the Raiders. During Monday’s NFL spring meeting, the sale was mutually agreed upon and submitted to the NFL for approval, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports.

The sale of a minority share of the @Raiders to ex-Patriots and Bucs QB @TomBrady has been agreed to and submitted to the NFL for approval. Won’t be done at the spring meeting but ball is rolling on it.

The sale will no longer close this week, but this is the next step that needed to be taken. If the sale is ratified, Brady can purchase the shares from Raiders’ primary owner, Mark Davis.

Brady and Davis already own the Las Vegas Aces

Brady and Davis are already in business together as owners of the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA. Brady had joined the ownership group back in March, shortly after retiring from the NFL.

This deal isn’t expected to affect the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s upcoming TV deal with Fox, where he signed a 10-year deal with the network to become its analyst.
