Hilton Tokyo Unveils Multi-Million Dollar Ballroom Renovation
Tokyo – Hilton Tokyo is undergoing a notable conversion, investing millions of dollars to renovate its ballroom and event spaces. This phased renovation addresses the increasing demand from both international and domestic markets, solidifying the hotelS position as a premier MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination in Japan.
A Floor-by-Floor Transformation
The renovation project focuses on the hotel’s fourth floor, a sprawling 15,300-square-foot (1,422sqm) area. The goal is to create modern, technologically advanced spaces designed for flexible event experiences. This follows the accomplished completion of renovations on the third floor in 2024, which added approximately 2,150 square feet (200sqm) of meeting space to the existing 10,750 square feet (1,000sqm). The current phase is slated for completion in October.
The Kiku Ballroom: A Centerpiece of Innovation
The Kiku Ballroom, known for its 16-foot (5m) ceilings and capacity to host up to 1,000 guests, is at the heart of this renovation. The ballroom will be redesigned to allow for partitioning into four distinct sections, named Kiku 1 through Kiku 4. This flexibility will cater to a wider range of event sizes and formats.
Kiku 1 will feature a state-of-the-art curved Barco LED wall, measuring approximately 49 feet by 10 feet (15m x 3m). This will be the largest LED wall of its kind in any hotel ballroom in japan, providing an immersive visual experience. An additional LED screen will be installed in Kiku 3, further enhancing the technological capabilities of the space.
Enhanced Accessibility and design
To improve guest flow and ease of use, the pre-function space will be connected to guest rooms, the hotel lobby, and basement parking via two sets of elevators, totaling eight elevators. This ensures seamless transitions for event attendees.
The interior design is being led by Singapore-based HBA (Hirsch Bedner Associates), an award-winning design and architecture firm. The design draws inspiration from Shinjuku’s history of letterpress printing and indigo dyeing, reflecting the local area’s rich heritage. This blend of modern technology and local artistry aims to create a unique and memorable event experience.
