Jakarta

Women’s doubles coach Eng Hian comments on performance Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu after winning against Chloe Birch/Lauren Smith. According to him, nothing special.

Greysia/Apriyani successfully won the second victory in the preliminary match of Group A Tokyo 2020 Olympics. They toppled the British pair in two straight games with a score of 21-11, 21-13.

Eng Hian did not expect his athletes to win easily, even though at the beginning of the first game, the two pairs were tight in getting points. But finally Greysia/Apriyani able to overcome the game and win.

“Rather surprise also look at the opponent’s performance today because it’s not like perfomance their normal. I think they are a bit tense or depressed because the previous meetings have always ended in tightness,” said Eng Hian in a KOI release.

“For Greysia/Apriyani’s appearance, I don’t think it’s really special. But I’m more convinced perfomance opponents who are abnormal, “he asserted.

Regardless of the performance of the two pairs, the fact that the success of winning points in the second match delivered Greysia/Apriyani advance to the quarterfinals Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In fact, they currently top the Group A standings with two wins from two matches.

They still have to fight in the last match against Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota (Japan) on Tuesday (27/7). A match to determine who will be the group winner.

Regarding that, Eng Hian hopes that his athletes can fight as much as possible. “Just be ready mentally, be ready to be tired, and keep your expectations. Strategy issues don’t need to be discussed,” said the coach who is familiarly called Koh Didi.
