New Laredo, Tamaulipas. – the mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, in 100 days carried out various actions for the attention, care and protection of women, to achieve a municipality free of gender violence.
Through the Attention Center for Women Victims of Violence of the DIF, granted protection and shelter to the victims of domestic violence, so that they were beyond the reach of their aggressor, providing shelter services, legal advice, psychological and medical care, among others; provided 123 legal advice for abandonment of home, child support obligations, physical and psychological violence.
On the other hand, the Secretary of Welfare of the Municipal Government, carried out medical assistance brigades, attended in a personalized way to women in vulnerable situations; carried out the Pink Mega Brigade in October, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
“We have a very strong commitment to gender equity and the eradication of violence against women, from the first day of government, hand in hand with the Municipal Institute for Women and the DIF, we promote policies and programs aimed at empowering women, but above all to protect them and that there is justice for all of them”, said Canturosas Villareal
Through the Municipal Institute for Women (INMUJER), more than 1,600 psychology and legal advice services were provided, virtually and in person.
Furthermore, with the “Media Action” program, podcast broadcasts were held with advice and topics of interest to women, awareness talks in the productive and social sectors, virtually and in person, on violence and its prevention, benefiting more than 9,500 women.
He also positively impacted more than 3,500 people with the conference “Olimpia Law and Digital Violence: because we also want to be safe on the internet”, given by Olimpia Coral Melo.
