An “Archaeological Time Machine” travels through Westphalia. Visitors can explore archaeological sites using virtual reality glasses. Cult companion of the traveling exhibition: the “DeLorean” sports car from the movie “Back to the Future”.

The first stop of the “Archaeological Time Machine” this week is the “Münster Arkaden”. Right from the start, the faithfully reproduced “DeLoeran” was admired by the public; The first curious people were waiting in front of the “Virtual Reality” station. Visitors have the opportunity to experience the attack on the Holsterburg near Warburg in 1294 (almost) live. Other short films take us back to the Neolithic period, to the construction of the Große Sloopsteene megalithic tomb near Westerkappeln, and to the period around 11 BC, when the Roman general Drusus came to the Haltern camp.

Thomas Tenkamp, ​​Managing Director of the Cultural Foundation of the Westfälische Provinzial Versicherung, which supports the project, describes the “Archaeological Time Machine” as a pioneering project: “We are convinced of the new formats to vividly convey the cultural history of Westphalia”.
