To listen! The young musical talent – guitarist Kaspars Niklasons

The album as a whole is a story about feeling in a completely different era. Whenever I came to my grandparents’ house, where I set up a studio above my grandfather’s workshop, I always had to set aside an hour to sit with my grandfather, drink coffee and talk, a new understanding of peace opened up. “

The album collects compositions whose meaning for Kaspar himself has remained, even with the passage of time.

He says: “This album is my self-portrait from the last ten years. The most emotionally complex track is “Monochrome”, which I have come back to from time to time. It tells about the sense of loss that tends to manifest itself when an important chapter in life draws to a close. In my case, it was the end of school. When there are so many options, the sheer size can be overwhelming. “

The oldest track on this album is “A Lovely Memory”, written by Kaspar in 2009. “After clearing my mind during a skateboarding trip, I went home and sat down with the guitar, much to my surprise, I I composed this piece in one go, which opened the doors to the world of music for me. Even now, listening to it, mystical feelings take over, “says Kaspars.

The latest on the album – “Golden hour” – a tribute to the room where Kaspar wrote this album, – to the studio above his grandfather’s workshop. “This piece is about the moments when studying helped isolate you from the daily grind. It is a place where I write music with great pleasure and the golden hour, which paints the studio with the colors of the sunset, is my favorite time to work there “, admits the musician.

“With this version, I have matured to get to know my audience better. My vision is to follow my vocation: to write music, collaborate with other musicians and play. This is an album of awareness of my path, through which I have gained confidence. that I’m going in the right direction. “

Kaspars is studying at the Jāzeps Vītolas Academy of Music in Latvia with Professor Kaspars Zemīš, he is currently on an Erasmus + trip to Sicily, where he learns classical guitar thoroughly and gets to know a new culture.
