Duchy of Lauenburg (pm). In the meeting on February 28, 2019, the district council elected fourteen members or eight deputy members of the district senior advisory board on the proposal of the social, educational and cultural committee. In the meantime, members have resigned, and deputy members of the district senior advisory board move up according to the statutes. Therefore, alternate members have to be elected.
The district council set up the senior district council in 2009. Its task is to represent the interests of the senior citizens of the district in cooperation with the existing institutions and committees of the elderly, to support the formation of further senior citizens’ councils in the cities and communities, to stimulate initiatives for self-help among the senior citizens and advising the district council and its committees on all issues relating to senior citizens. It consists of a minimum of seven and a maximum of 15 members and is elected by the district council for five years. Residents of the Herzogtum Lauenburg district who are at least 60 years old are eligible. However, they are not allowed to belong to the district council and its committees or to a community council in the Duchy of Lauenburg.
The aid organizations and welfare associations located in the Duchy of Lauenburg district, self-help groups in the field of elderly care, local senior citizens’ advisory boards, foreigner advisory boards, home advisory boards of all inpatient elderly care facilities located in the Duchy of Lauenburg and the parliamentary groups represented in the district council are entitled to make proposals.
The district of Duchy of Lauenburg asks all those entitled to make proposals to submit proposals for the election of deputy members of the district senior advisory council to the social services department of the district administration, Barlachstraße 2, 23909 Ratzeburg, email [email protected], by November 9, 2020.
