Karlos Vémola Closes Door on Potential Materla Fight,Cites Timing and Condition
Prague – Veteran Czech MMA fighter Karlos Vémola has definitively expressed his disinterest in a long-discussed bout with fellow fighter Marek Materla, effectively extinguishing hopes for a clash between the two. Vémola stated he believes the possibility for the fight has passed, citing both the timing of his career and concerns regarding MaterlaS current physical state.
For years, fans have speculated about a potential showdown between Vémola and Materla, but the fight never materialized. now, Vémola indicates a matchup holds little appeal. “I don’t think he’s the one to pull me out of retirement. It’s just too late for our match,” Vémola told Sport.cz. He further suggested the fight would be more fitting for a Polish audience, given OKTAGON’s expansion into that market, and expressed reluctance to face Materla in poland to a possibly unfriendly crowd.
Vémola also voiced concerns about Materla’s health, stating, “I honestly think that given his health, Materla should be retired by now too. he’s not the Materla I want to beat.” While not entirely ruling out a fight should the financial incentive be important, Vémola’s comments signal a strong unwillingness to pursue the matchup.
