Valve Confirms Next-Generation Steam Machine Powered by AMD Zen 4 and RDNA 3
Valve has officially announced the development of a new Steam Machine, featuring an AMD Zen 4 processor and RDNA 3 graphics architecture, alongside an updated Steam Controller. The company intends to release both the Steam machine and the standalone Steam Controller in early 2026.
This marks a critically important return to dedicated Steam hardware after the initial Steam Machine initiative faced challenges and was ultimately discontinued in 2018.The new Steam machine aims to deliver a premium, streamlined PC gaming experience centered around the Steam ecosystem and the SteamOS operating system. The renewed push into hardware comes as Valve continues to refine SteamOS, demonstrated by the success of the Steam Deck handheld, and signals a broader strategy to control more of the gaming experience-from software distribution to hardware execution.
The forthcoming Steam Machine will be accompanied by a new iteration of the steam Controller, which will also be available for individual purchase. Valve has not yet disclosed pricing or specific technical specifications for either device, stating that this information will be revealed closer to the 2026 launch window.
