##Tulsa Day Centre Launches Footwear Drive Amid Rising Need
TULSA,OK – The Tulsa Day Center is urgently requesting donations of new or gently used shoes too support individuals experiencing homelessness as colder weather approaches. The “Goody 2 Shoes” drive aims to provide essential footwear for those who rely on walking as their primary mode of transportation.
The need for proper shoes is constant, with the center serving nearly 300 people each day. “Shoes are necessary for our individuals as mostly the transportation is walking for moast people experiencing homelessness, so good-fitting shoes are great to have,” explained CEO Mack Haltom. The drive seeks all sizes, with a particular emphasis on durable walking shoes.
Haltom emphasized the critical role footwear plays in both health and dignity. “Occasionally, we have people come in maybe with just flip flops on or something like that, and in need of that, and they’re ill-fitting shoes mainly,” he said. “Having good shoes not only protects their health but also gives them some dignity.”
Donations will be accepted thru October 10, coinciding with World Homelessness Day. Drop-off location is 415 west archer Street. Every contribution, Haltom says, helps those relying on the Tulsa Day Center take “one more step forward.”
