Toni Braxton & Lifetime Debut “He Wasn’t Man Enough” – Exclusive First Look
LOS ANGELES, CA – November 13, 2024 – GRAMMY Award-winning artist Toni Braxton expands her creative portfolio with her debut film production, He Wasn’t Man Enough, a new dramedy premiering Saturday, November 22, on lifetime. The project marks the first release from Braxton’s multi-layered partnership with the network, focusing on stories where women reclaim their power adn demand the respect they deserve.
Braxton stars as Mel Montgomery, a prosperous author whose seemingly perfect life is shattered when she discovers her boyfriend, Richard (Thomas Cadrot), is unfaithful. The betrayal deepens when Richard attempts to claim a share of Mel’s hard-earned success, serving her with legal papers demanding half of her assets based on a purported creative partnership in her novels.
Facing this double-cross,Mel unexpectedly finds common ground with Monica (Essence atkins),an estranged college friend now engaged to Mel’s former flame. Despite their history, the two women forge an alliance, enlisting the help of Mel’s best friend and lawyer, Candy (Yvette Nicole Brown). Together, they devise a plan to hold Richard accountable for his deceit. What begins as a quest for revenge evolves into a strong bond of female solidarity, extending beyond their shared group chat and into unwavering support.
Looking ahead, Braxton will collaborate with Atkins and A different World alumna Cree Summer in 2026 for a second film, tentatively titled Breathe Again, inspired by Braxton’s 1993 hit song. This future project will explore the challenges faced by three women navigating the pressures of a national dating series.
