Tigres Advance⁢ to liga MX⁢ Final After 1-0 Victory Over Cruz Azul

Monterrey, Mexico – December 7, 2025 – Tigres UANL ​secured their place in the Apertura 2025 Liga MX final with a 1-0 victory over Cruz Azul in the second leg of the semifinal series, played⁤ at‍ the University Stadium. The result ‍sends Tigres through⁣ on aggregate, having ⁣drawn the first ​leg. Cruz Azul needed a win of ⁣any kind ⁤to‌ advance,⁤ but were unable to​ break down a resolute tigres‍ defense.

The decisive ⁣goal came in the⁢ 27th minute, a beautifully crafted play culminating in a finish from Juan Brunetta. A right-sided attack‍ ended with a low cross and a masterful backheel assist from André-Pierre Gignac, setting up Brunetta to score. The goal sparked ‍party amongst the Tigres faithful and put immense pressure ⁣on Cruz Azul to find an equalizer they ultimately couldn’t deliver.

Throughout the match, Cruz Azul dominated posession for‍ stretches, particularly in the first 20 minutes, but ⁢struggled to convert their opportunities into​ goals. Sepúlveda missed a ⁢key chance in the 11th minute, heading weakly ‌from a promising position. ​Tigres,‌ content to cede possession, looked risky on the counter, with ‍Brunetta having ​an earlier attempt ‌in the⁢ 14th⁤ minute ‍that went wide due to⁢ a tight angle.
