STONY BROOK, N.Y. (October 18, 2025) - The Stonehill College women’s tennis team concluded its road trip with a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Stony Brook University on Saturday afternoon.Despite competitive efforts in several matches,the Skyhawks were unable to secure a point against their non-conference opponent.
The loss concludes a challenging stretch for Stonehill, as they navigate a competitive fall schedule. The team is building toward future matchups and gaining experience against diverse opponents. their next contest marks the final event of their fall season, offering a chance to finish strong before the winter break.
Piper Remillard and Iliana deArmas delivered a particularly strong showing in doubles play, falling narrowly to Stony Brook’s Laura Ozola and Cornelia Bruu-Syversen with a score of 6-4.
In singles competition, Julie Holte battled fiercely at the No. 1 position against Elena Lobo-Corral. Arya Chabria also pushed her opponent, Ozola, to the brink of a third set at No. 5 singles. Remillard demonstrated resilience at No. 6, claiming the first set 6-0 against Mila Charles before ultimately dropping the match in a tiebreaker and supertiebreaker (6-7, 4-10).
Stonehill will return to the Charles Watt Tennis Courts on Saturday, October 25, to face Siena College in their final fall match.
