Title: Staruch Asks for Pardon: Legia Player Seeks Clemency from President

The president gave an interview to Channel Zero on Saturday. During the live broadcast, viewers could call the studio. One of them attracted special attention because he introduced himself as “Staruch” – a member of Legia Warszawa, who has been having problems with the law for years. And he asked the president for help with his legal problems.

I was punished with a stadium ban for standing on the fence and doping during the match in Lublin, even though I had accreditation issued by the match organizer and I could stand on the fence there. However, the court in Lublin decided to sentence me to a two-year stadium ban – he explained and later asked the president: Will Santa Claus bring me mercy this year?

Karol Nawrocki reminded that pardon is the exclusive prerogative of the President of Poland. All applications for pardon have been analyzed for two months – he informed. He also explained that he knew the “Staruch” case from the media.

In general, this attack on the fans, as we said, (due to – note by RMF FM) running a nice, patriotic banner for the match of the Polish national team, the words of fans known to the public, who were specifically checked just because they are not supporters of the government. This is such a rule in general – whether the president, or fans, or people dealing with crypto assets, or PiS, or Confederation, or the Razem Party. If someone disagrees with the government, we must do everything to tighten the screws all the way. This is not good practice – he said.

The president also appealed to Donald Tusk: Really, a bit of chillout, Mr. Prime Minister.

He specified that when it comes to “Staruch’s” request, he will not reveal on the air what his decision will be. He emphasized that there are many requests for clemency – “there are probably over 1,000 applications.”

This all takes some time, but I will deal with pardons at the beginning of the year – he said.

In 2015, “Staruch” was convicted for the situation during the Wisła Kraków – Legia Warszawa match, which occurred two years earlier. The man was accused of violating the Act on the Safety of Mass Events – he jumped onto the fence of the Krakow stadium and, despite the intervention of the announcer and security, did not want to come down.

Earlier, “Staruch” was legally convicted of violation of the bodily integrity of football player Jakub Rzeźniczak. The incident occurred in early April after Legia’s defeat against Ruch Chorzów. The fans of the capital team insulted and spat at their team’s players as they went to the locker room. Jakub Rzeźniczak responded sharply. When the players went out on the field again for post-match training, Rzeźniczak was hit in the face by “Staruch”, the cheering leader. The event was recorded on camera.

“Staruch” was also accused of trafficking amphetamines – he spent 8 months in custody, but in this case he was legally acquitted.

“Staruch” himself said in an interview for “Gazeta Polska” that fans are a thorn in the side of the Civic Platform government (from 2008-2015). I am public enemy number one. All the repressions that have affected me, these trials, are punishment for pursuing my passion and love – he said in 2011. These were the times when fans protested against the closure of stadiums. The famous slogan appeared on them – “Donald, idiot, your government will be overthrown by hooligans.

Association solidarni2010 it was loudly said that “Staruch” was a political prisoner. Beata Kempa signed a personal guarantee for “Staruch” in September 2011, but later said she regretted it.
