Baden-Württemberg Reports Zero New RSV Cases as Respiratory Illnesses Circulate
Stuttgart, Germany – Baden-Württemberg is currently experiencing a period of low activity for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), with no new cases reported in the 42nd calendar week of 2025. However, othre respiratory illnesses remain present, prompting ongoing surveillance by health authorities.
The absence of new RSV cases represents a significant shift from earlier in the year, when the state reached its peak incidence in calendar week 08/2025, registering 431 new cases - a rate of 3.82 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. While RSV currently shows a low incidence of 0 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, public health officials continue to monitor trends in respiratory diseases to protect vulnerable populations, including infants, premature babies, young children, and the elderly, who are at higher risk of severe illness.
Nationwide, data is collected through the Robert Koch Institute’s (RKI) GrippeWeb online portal, where 8,737 individuals are actively participating by self-reporting their health status. In calendar week 41/2025, 2,475 participants from the southern region contributed data. It’s important to note that these figures are based on self-reports and are not confirmed through laboratory testing.
