Jakarta - Mohamed Salah has expressed his disappointment after being an unused substitute for three consecutive Liverpool matches, voicing confusion over his recent benching.
The situation unfolded as Liverpool drew 3-3 with Leeds United in their latest Premier League outing on Sunday, December 7, 2025. This followed Salah being substituted on during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland and remaining on the bench for the entirety of their 2-0 victory against West Ham.
“I can’t believe it… I sat on the bench for 90 minutes. This is the third time I’ve sat on the bench, I think it’s the first time in my career,” salah stated, according to The Guardian. “I’m very, very disappointed. I’ve done so much for this club over the years, especially last season. Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why,” he added.
The benching comes at a critical juncture for the defending champions, who currently occupy eighth place in the league standings with 23 points – ten points behind league leaders Arsenal. The development raises questions about manager Arne Slot’s plans and Salah’s role within the team as Liverpool attempt to regain their position at the top of the Premier League.
