WWE‘s Ridge Holland Confirms contract Will Not Be Renewed, Rehab Costs Covered
WWE star Ridge Holland revealed today via Instagram that the company has informed him his contract will expire on November 14th and will not be renewed. Despite the non-renewal, WWE will continue to cover the costs associated with his ongoing rehabilitation from a recent injury.
Holland’s departure marks the end of a five-year run with the promotion, begining in 2018. The news arrives as Holland recovers from an injury sustained during a TNA wrestling event last month,adding uncertainty to his future in professional wrestling. While his time with WWE was marked by setbacks, including injuries and being present during Big E’s career-altering neck injury, Holland expressed gratitude for the opportunity and experience.
A former professional rugby player, Holland transitioned to wrestling and competed across WWE’s brands, including NXT, NXT UK, and ”WWE SmackDown,” most notably as a member of the Brawling Brutes alongside Sheamus.His last WWE match took place at an NXT live event on September 12th, were he defeated Dante Chen.
In his Instagram post, holland acknowledged the challenges he faced during his WWE tenure, stating, “my career with WWE has been blighted by misfortune but I’m still thankful and grateful for the opportunity and experience.” He also indicated plans to launch an online coaching business, though he remains unsure if he will return to the ring.
