Alma, MI – Rachael Jones led the Hope Collage women’s golf team at the MIAA Jamboree #4 hosted by Alma College at Pine River Country Club on Saturday, finishing tied for fifth place with a 3-over-par round of 75. The Flying Dutch finished seventh as a team with a score of 334.
Hope concluded it’s fall season with the jamboree, currently sitting in sixth place in the overall MIAA standings with a combined four-jamboree score of 1,298. the team will resume competition in the spring, aiming to climb the standings against league leaders Saint Mary’s college (1,261), Trine University (1,262), Kalamazoo College (1,281), Albion College (1,288), and Calvin University (1,297). Jones’ consistent performance throughout the fall positions her as a key player for Hope in the upcoming spring season.
Trine University won the event with a 311, followed by a tie for second between Saint Mary’s College and Kalamazoo College, both at 313.
Jones’ 75 continues a strong fall for the junior from Grove City,Ohio,who ranks among the top three individuals in the MIAA with a cumulative score of 306 through four jamborees. She trails Melanie Maier of Saint Mary’s (298) and Rylee Smith of Trine (302).
Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana) and Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan) both carded rounds of 86 for Hope. caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan) and Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan) each shot 87. Allyson zuidema (Northville, Michigan), competing as an individual, recorded an 84.
The Flying Dutch will resume MIAA competition at the 36-hole Spring Finale, scheduled for April 24-25, at the Legacy by Arthur Hills in Ottawa Lake, Michigan.
