PS5 & PS4‘s Postal: Bullet Paradise Canceled After AI Usage Accusations
A new Postal game, Postal: Bullet Paradise, has been swiftly canceled just two days after its announcement due to community backlash over suspected heavy reliance on generative AI. The title, a “bullet heaven” style game inspired by Vampire Survivors, was slated for release on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
Publisher Running with Scissors made the decision after an “overwhelmingly negative” response to the reveal trailer, which many viewers identified as containing AI-generated elements, particularly in the voice work and non-gameplay art.
“After revealing POSTAL: bullet Paradise, a title Running With Scissors was planning on publishing but not developing, we’ve been overwhelmed with negative responses from our concerned POSTAL Community,” stated Running with Scissors founder Vince Desi. “The strong feedback from them is that elements of the game are very likely AI-generated and thus has caused extreme damage to our brand and our company reputation. We’ve always been, and will always be, transparent with our community. Our trust in the advancement team is broken; therefore,we’ve killed the project.”
The game was being developed by Goonswarm Games. Desi emphasized the importance of the Postal fanbase, stating, “Since forming Running With Scissors in 1996, we’ve always said that our fans are part of the team. our priority is to always do right by the millions who support the POSTAL franchise.”
The cancellation comes amid growing scrutiny of AI’s role in game development. This year, titles like call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and ARC Raiders have faced criticism for utilizing AI tools during production. Running with Scissors indicated they are focusing on future projects and updates planned for 2026 and beyond.
