Title: Pike County BOE Approves Travel Requests – September 2025

Pike County Schools ⁢Approve Extensive⁢ Student & Staff Travel for Enrichment opportunities

Pike County, AL – September 18, 2025 – The Pike County⁢ Board of Education (BOE) demonstrated a strong commitment ‌to ⁣student and staff progress this week, approving a comprehensive list of travel requests at‍ its September 15th meeting. The ⁤approved trips span the academic year and beyond, ​offering a diverse range of enrichment opportunities ‌in fields ‌from counseling and STEM to the arts and leadership.

The‍ BOE greenlit travel for ‌Joni Riley, a counselor, to attend the Alabama Counseling Association’s 59th Annual Conference in Birmingham this November.This professional development chance will allow ⁣Riley to bring back valuable insights and techniques to support Pike County students.

Perhaps most exciting for students, the board approved spring ​2026 band trips for both Pike County High School and Goshen High School to ⁢Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. These trips promise a memorable experience for band members and a chance to‌ showcase their talents.

A meaningful number of students will benefit from educational excursions throughout the year. ninety-four students and chaperones will journey ⁢to the US Space & Rocket Centre in november, sparking interest in science and space‌ exploration. Another ninety-four will attend school Fest in Montgomery this December, and eighteen will participate in Engineering ‍Day​ at Auburn University in February 2026. Further STEM opportunities include a trip to the ATTA library of STEM ​& History​ in Abbeville ‍in March 2026.

The BOE also ‌approved travel for key administrative staff. Dr. donnella Carter will attend both the‌ Alabama Association of Federal Education Program Administrators Conference and ⁤the Fall School Superintendent of Alabama Fall ⁢Conference,both in Florence,AL,bolstering her leadership skills and staying abreast of best practices. Marla Johnson will⁤ attend the alabama Beekeepers Conference in Clanton, possibly⁤ bringing valuable agricultural knowledge‌ back to the county.

the approval of these travel requests underscores the Pike County Board of Education’s dedication to providing enriching experiences for both students and staff,fostering ⁣a well-rounded educational environment.
