CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois University’s men’s soccer team secured a second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference victory on Sunday,defeating Southern Indiana 2-0 at Lakeside Field. The Panthers‘ dominant performance elevates their record and positions them competitively within the conference standings as the season progresses.
EIU improved to 3-7-3 with a 2-3-2 record in OVC play, while USI fell to 2-8-4 overall and 1-2-4 in conference matchups. The Panthers controlled the offensive tempo, registering 15 total shots, including 11 on target, and capitalizing on key opportunities to secure the shutout win.Adam Boykin opened the scoring in the 19th minute, finishing a play initiated by a cross from Cland Iwasaki and a touch pass from Manuel Corderio. Fabricio Roberti extended the lead in the closing minutes, converting a one-on-one prospect after forcing a turnover in the Screaming Eagles’ defensive zone.
EIU goalkeeper Lucas Ortiz recorded two saves, supported by a strong defensive effort that limited Southern Indiana to few clear scoring chances.Edin Cvorovic and Oliver Church each registered a shot on goal for USI.
