NewJeans will continue their activities under ADOR following a dispute that arose from the departure of former CEO Min Hee-jin, the group’s agency announced today. The decision comes after a period of legal contention and self-reliant performances by the five members.
The conflict began with the April 2024 termination of Min Hee-jin, who also served as NewJeans’ creative director. The group subsequently voiced concerns over the resulting management structure, leading to a September 2024 press conference where members announced their intention to terminate their contracts with ADOR, citing alleged bullying. They briefly performed under the name NJZ at a Hong Kong music festival. ADOR responded with legal action, seeking to enforce the existing contracts and prevent further independent activities.
In February 2025, a Seoul court sided with ADOR, granting injunctions that blocked the group’s independent endeavors. The court also ruled that Min hee-jin’s departure did not automatically create a managerial vacuum or render ADOR unable to fulfill its contractual obligations. Following “thoughtful consideration,” NewJeans members have now resolved to resume their activities with the agency. Details regarding future schedules and projects are forthcoming.
