MONTREAL, QC – David Reinbacher has been called up to the Montreal Canadiens, capitalizing on an opportunity created by Adam engström’s recent recall, the team announced today. The move comes as Reinbacher demonstrates significant progress with the Laval Rocket, showcasing a skillset that has coaches optimistic about his potential.
Reinbacher, who recently returned to action on October 31st after recovering from a broken hand, has appeared in 13 regular season games this year – a career milestone. The 21-year-old defenseman has navigated consecutive injury setbacks, acknowledging the mental fortitude required to overcome such challenges.
“It’s certainly frustrating. It’s always frustrating to get injured, especially two years in a row. From the start of training camp, it’s not easy. It’s difficult, but you grow as a man. It’s also a good time of life to see how we react to all this mentally,” Reinbacher stated on October 31st.
His return to the lineup has been marked by a renewed focus on enjoying the game.”I’m really happy. It was a long wait, I worked hard and fought to get back in the game. It’s just good to win and have fun with the guys. Seeing all those smiles on their faces is awesome,” he said on November 21st.
laval Rocket Head Coach Pascal Vincent has observed reinbacher’s growth closely.”He’s improving, he was better today. It’s his job as a defenseman, how he defended and how he read plays in the neutral zone… it’s so much potential that my expectations are very high for him. We will be patient. we keep an eye more on the process than on the results currently.”
Reinbacher is persistent to seize this opportunity.”I’m trying to find my rhythm and my bearings and show the guy that I’m a leader here. I have to play with confidence,” he explained on October 31st.
Through 12 games in the 2025-26 season with the Laval Rocket, Reinbacher has recorded 8 points (3 goals) with a +1 differential, averaging 18:47 of ice time, including 1:55 on the power play and 1:03 on the penalty kill.
