Title: Men’s Basketball Signs Four Key Prospects

Detroit Mercy men’s⁤ Basketball‌ Bolsters Roster ⁣with Four Fall Signees

The University of Detroit Mercy men’s basketball program has⁣ added four talented players to⁤ its roster for the upcoming season: Keaton Aldridge, Greg Grays Jr., Chance Houser, and⁤ James ⁣Martin.The incoming class is expected to contribute immediately to the Titans’ horizon League campaign.

Head Coach Mike Montgomery ‍and his staff focused on ‍adding versatile players with proven track ‌records.⁣ “We’re excited about this⁢ group of signees,” Montgomery said. “Each player ⁤brings a unique skillset and a ‌winning ​mentality to our program.” The additions aim to build upon the program’s recent successes and continue its competitive trajectory within the Horizon league.

Keaton ⁤Aldridge * 6-3 * G * Indianapolis, Ind.* Cathedral

aldridge ⁣arrives ⁤in Detroit after a strong prep career at Cathedral High School.Last year, he averaged 11.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.4 steals per game. As ‍a sophomore, he was named an IndyStar Super⁣ Sophomore and earned All-Indy Super⁣ Team High honorable Mention. He further showcased his​ talent over the summer, earning MVP ‌honors at the G2‌ hoops Mac Jelks Invitational.

Montgomery noted, “Keaton is a ⁣player with a lot of talent and can score the basketball‌ in a number of ways. He plays ⁤in a tough,competitive league in Indy and that will help him get ready for ‌the Horizon League.”

Greg Grays jr.‌ * 6-2 * G * Detroit, mich. * Brother Rice

Grays Jr., a⁤ Detroit native, joins the Titans with an impressive scoring resume, having amassed 1,410 ⁢career points and averaging 21.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists throughout his high school career. He was a First Team All-state selection as a junior, averaging 19.0 points and 5.0 rebounds, ‍and received Honorable Mention All-State honors as⁣ a sophomore. A three-time All-conference performer and All-Area First⁢ Team selection as a junior, Grays Jr.‌ also carries a ⁢strong⁣ basketball lineage; his father played at Penn State and ⁢UDM, leading the Titans in scoring in 2002 ‌with 17.8 points per game.

“Greg is a dynamic scorer who ‌has taken his game ⁣to‌ another level in the last year,” Montgomery stated. “He has been⁤ one of the ‍top⁣ players ​in the state and comes from a great Titan family where ⁤both‍ his mom and dad are graduates.”

Chance houser​ *‌ 6-6 * F ⁤* Detroit, Mich. * Mumford

Houser, also hailing from‌ Detroit, was a Second‍ Team All-State honoree last year,⁤ posting ⁢averages of 14.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. A two-time All-Conference​ selection, Houser lead Summit Academy to its first⁢ MHSAA D2 State Final game as a‍ junior. He also excelled⁢ in AAU competition with The Family, earning recognition as a Midwest Riser with averages of 10.0 points⁤ and 4.0 rebounds while shooting nearly 50.0% from the field.

“Chance continues to improve offensively and defensively every season and is ⁤coming off⁣ a ⁣great run to the​ state⁣ championship game,” Montgomery said. “He is athletic and will help us ⁣on⁣ both ends of the court.”

James Martin * ⁣6-4 * G/F * Muskegon, Mich.⁤ *‌ muskegon

Martin brings a ‌wealth of experience and‍ leadership to the Titans, having served as a three-time‌ team⁤ captain ‍at Muskegon High School.​ He boasts career averages of 16.3‍ points, 6.3 rebounds, ‌3.3 assists, and 1.7 steals. A two-time All-Conference honoree, Martin was named his team’s Defensive Player of the Year‌ last season and contributed to a highly‌ accomplished three-year run that included a 69-9 ‌overall record, three conference⁢ titles, and ‍a state runner-up appearance.

“James is a player who can play and defend multiple positions and he also comes from a great program that has a winning culture and mentality,” Montgomery⁣ concluded.
