Latvian Football Team Embarks on Balkan Tour Amidst Euro Qualification Push
Riga, Latvia – The Latvian national football team has begun a tour of Balkan nations, kicking off a crucial period of readiness and competition as they strive for qualification for the 2028 European Championship. the team departed today for a series of matches and training camps across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, aiming to build momentum and refine their strategy ahead of upcoming qualifying fixtures.
This tour represents a pivotal moment for Latvia’s football programme. the tour schedule begins with a training camp in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, followed by a friendly match against a local select team on October 10th.The team will then travel to Montenegro for another training session and a friendly on October 13th, before concluding the tour with a match against North Macedonia on October 16th in Skopje.
National team head coach Dainis gaubas emphasized the importance of the tour, stating, “This is a fantastic opportunity for the team to gel, experiment with different tactics, and gain valuable experience playing against strong opposition. The Balkan nations are known for their passionate football culture and competitive spirit, which will undoubtedly push our players to their limits.”
