iPhone 17 Pro May Feature 8x Optical Zoom and Advanced Cooling System, According to Carrier Documentation
Breaking: New documentation from a Korean carrier suggests Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models will boast an 8x optical zoom camera – exceeding the 5x zoom expected on the iPhone 16 Pro. The leak, first reported by Jukan on X (formerly Twitter), also points to the inclusion of a vapor chamber cooling system in the Pro models, a feature commonly found in high-end Android phones.
The vapor chamber is designed to dissipate heat away from the CPU and GPU, allowing for sustained performance during demanding tasks like intensive gaming and prolonged 8K video recording.apple’s current iPhone chassis utilizes aluminum for heat conduction, but the iPhone 17 series is expected to further enhance thermal management.
This potential 8x zoom surpasses previous rumors which indicated zoom capabilities of 7x or 10x. Bloomberg has reported the iPhone 17 Pro will incorporate a variable aperture system, enabling mechanically adjustable optical zoom distances – a departure from the fixed zoom distances of previous iPhone models.
Apple is scheduled to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup, alongside new Apple Watches and AirPods Pro 3, at its September event in approximately 48 hours.
