Enzo Fernandez played a key role as Argentina defeated Venezuela 1-0 in an international friendly match at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
Argentina secured a 1-0 victory over Venezuela in a dominant performance, despite the absence of Lionel Messi who observed the match from the sidelines. The South American champions controlled possession and created numerous scoring opportunities.
La Albiceleste finished with 67% of the possession and registered 19 shots compared to Venezuela’s five. Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez was instrumental in dictating play, completing more passes than any other player during his 78 minutes on the pitch before being substituted for Alexis Mac Allister of Liverpool. Fernandez also tested Venezuela goalkeeper José Contreras with a shot on goal.
The decisive goal came in the 32nd minute when Giovani Lo Celso found the back of the net with a low finish inside the penalty area.
The win for Argentina comes on the heels of successful outings for other chelsea players internationally. Estevao Willian scored twice for Brazil, while Jamie Gittens also found the net for england’s Under-21 team.
