HOUSTON – A dramatic shift in weather is headed for Houston, trading recent warmth for a chilly Halloween and increasing rain chances this weekend. Residents should prepare for substantially cooler temperatures tonight as a cold front sweeps through the region.
The change marks a stark contrast to recent mild conditions and comes as Hurricane Melissa, though no longer tropical, continues to impact areas further north. While Melissa brushed Bermuda with 98 mph wind gusts and is now bringing strong winds and brief heavy rain to Newfoundland, the Gulf Coast will experience a different effect – a significant drop in temperatures. The cold front will bring Halloween chills, with highs only reaching the low 60s Friday, and dipping into the 50s Saturday. There is a 40% chance of rain Saturday, increasing to 60% Sunday.
Hurricane season officially continues for another month, concluding on November 30th, but currently, no other systems are being monitored for tropical growth in the atlantic basin.
