Guerin Catholic Soars to Circle City Conference Title in Dramatic Shootout
CARMEL, IN – The Guerin Catholic boys soccer team secured the Circle City Conference championship Tuesday night, prevailing 4-3 over Roncalli in a nail-biting penalty-kick shootout. The victory caps a perfect 3-0 conference record for the Golden Eagles, marking their fifth CCC title in program history.
The Class 2A No. 3 Golden eagles’ championship win underscores their dominance within the conference and positions them favorably heading into the state tournament. The team’s ability to perform under pressure, demonstrated in the shootout, highlights their resilience and potential for a deep postseason run.
Will Scheu, Connor Klen, Christian Zermeno, and Cooper Prather each converted their penalty kicks for guerin Catholic. Goalkeeper Ryan McGrath contributed with a crucial save, and a Roncalli attempt bounced off the crossbar. Guerin Catholic’s overall record now stands at 8-3, and they will travel to Harrison Thursday to face the 3A No. 1 Raiders.

Westfield defeated 3A No. 6 Noblesville 2-0 Tuesday, with Matt Millikan scoring both goals. The Shamrocks are now 2-2 in conference play and 3-4-1 with a saturday game against Pendleton Heights on the horizon. Noblesville fell to 1-2-1 in the conference and 5-3-1 and will host Southport Thursday.
Fishers and 3A No. 11 Hamilton Southeastern battled to a 0-0 tie in their “Mudsock” rivalry game Thursday. fishers is 3-0-2 in HCC play and 6-1-2 while Southeastern is 1-1-2 in the conference and 5-2-3 overall. Fishers will play at Pendleton Heights Thursday, and Southeastern will host Oak Hill Saturday morning. Carmel tied Lawrence North 1-1 Tuesday at Brian Murray Stadium.The 3A No. 2 Greyhounds are 6-0-1 and will host 3A No. 18 Columbus North on Friday.
University lost to 2A No. 6 Bishop Chatard 7-3 Tuesday and will play a Pioneer Conference game thursday at Anderson Prep Academy. The Trailblazers are 3-4-1 overall.
* Hamilton Heights fell to Tipton 5-3 Tuesday in the Hoosier Conference tournament quarterfinals and will play a consolation game later this week. The Huskies are 4-4 overall.
