EKU Kicks Off Home Season with Maroon Out Against Houston Christian
Richmond, KY - Eastern Kentucky University football will host Houston Christian in its home opener this Saturday, with festivities beginning at 11:00 a.m. when parking and tailgate lots open to the public. Fans are encouraged to wear maroon for a “Maroon Out,” and the first 1,000 attendees will receive a free maroon t-shirt sponsored by Coca-Cola.
The game day experience will center around the expanded Colonel Courtyard, extending into the Alumni Coliseum parking lot, opening at 3:00 p.m. The courtyard will feature music, performances by the EKU band and spirit squad at Earle Combs Stadium, food trucks, inflatables, and sponsor activations.
Students will enjoy a dedicated tailgate area with free pizza, available while supplies last, starting at 3:00 p.m. The College of health Sciences and the Graduate School are designated as the “Colleges of the Game” and will be recognized in the Colonel Courtyard and with in-game announcements.
Inside Roy Kidd Stadium, EKU Dining Services and Aramark will offer a variety of concessions, including a featured item: Brisket Mac and Cheese – creamy mac and cheese topped with smoked barbecue brisket. A family zone with inflatables and yard games will be available above the hill behind the cannon.
