Production has concluded on “Dark Horse,” a film centering on the former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, with actor Jim Caviezel among the cast. The project was filmed entirely in English adn maintained tight security to prevent leaks, according to reports. Caviezel reportedly spent approximately three months filming in Brazil before returning abroad after completing his work.
The film’s development arrives amid ongoing political scrutiny of Bolsonaro following his departure from office and investigations into his actions during his presidency. “Dark horse” aims to depict events surrounding Bolsonaro, potentially including an attack he experienced, and action sequences set in the Amazon rainforest involving clashes with drug cartels, indigenous communities, and shamans. The project’s narrative significance is heightened by the involvement of Mário Frias, who served as Special Secretary for Culture under Bolsonaro, as the scriptwriter.
The international cast also includes Lynn Collins (known for John Carter – Between Two Worlds) and Morales Essays (Mission Unachievable 8), alongside Brazilian actor Felipe Folgosi, portraying a federal police officer. Cyrus Nowrasteh directed the film.
