China’s Shipbuilding Industry Achieves Record Growth, Global Leadership
China’s shipbuilding industry has reached new heights, demonstrating significant advancements in both output and technological innovation, according to recent reports. The nation continues to lead the world in three key indicators - output, new orders, and backlog – solidifying it’s position as a global shipbuilding powerhouse.
During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, China has unveiled a series of groundbreaking vessels, marking a shift towards deep-sea capabilities and advanced technologies. These include the world’s first 100,000-ton smart breeding work vessel,”Guoxin No. 1,” and the world’s first 150,000-ton self-propelled closed salmon farming work ship, “Suhai No. 1.” These deliveries signal china’s entry into the era of deep-sea aquaculture.
Further bolstering its capabilities, china has added the independently designed and built ocean drilling ship ”Dream” to its fleet, capable of drilling to a maximum depth of 11,000 meters – exceeding the capacity of any existing ocean drilling ship globally. The new generation ice-breaking research ship “Polar” and the deep-sea multi-functional scientific expedition and cultural relics archaeological ship “Revelation 3” have also been launched, expanding China’s marine scientific research reach to all ocean depths and areas.
“In the past five years,we have an obvious feature, which is that we have made great progress in bright and high-end products,” stated Li Yanqing. “We have achieved breakthroughs in major marine equipment technologies, and we have a series of green products that are the first of its kind in the world. This once again proves that autonomous innovation, adjustment of industrial capabilities, and international cooperation have always been significant cornerstones supporting the high-quality development of china’s shipbuilding industry.”
The advancements reflect a commitment to independent innovation, industrial restructuring, and international collaboration, driving the high-quality development of China’s shipbuilding sector.
