Bulgaria⁤ Football Fans Plan Protest Against⁣ Federation President ‍Ahead of Georgia Match

Sofia, Bulgaria -‍ Disgruntled football fans⁤ in Bulgaria⁢ are organizing a large-scale protest against Bulgarian Football Union (BFS) President Georgi Ivanov, known as Gonzo, during the national team’s upcoming home match against Georgia on November 18th at 21:45.the demonstration stems from the national team’s historically poor performance in the current⁢ Euro 2024 ⁢qualifying campaign.

The planned protest reflects growing frustration with ⁤the state of Bulgarian football, wich organizers say has reached a critical low point under Ivanov’s leadership.‍ With four losses in six qualifying matches and a goal difference of 1:16,the national⁣ team currently has zero⁤ points. This downturn has ignited⁤ calls for immediate and decisive‍ action to address what ⁣fans perceive as systemic incompetence and a failure to develop the sport.

Organizers released a statement declaring, “Bulgarian football is in the abyss and it is time to take immediate and⁢ decisive actions to stop this decline. The management of Georgi‌ Ivanov is an example of deep incompetence and compromise, which lead to the systematic degeneration of our football structure.‍ His decisions not onyl fail to meet the needs of the national team and football as a whole, but also undermine any‍ chance of future recovery.”

The planned demonstration echoes a similar protest held before the Bulgaria-Hungary match in‌ September, which escalated into⁤ clashes between fans ⁤and police, resulting in injuries⁤ and ultimately the resignation of then-BFS President Borislav Mihailov. Ivanov afterward replaced Mihailov.
