Olivier Brandouy has been appointed to lead the education, higher education, research, youth, adn sports division within the office of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, effective September 15, 2025, according to a decree published in the Journal Officiel on September 20, 2024. The appointment fills a long-standing vacancy in Prime Minister François Bayrou‘s former cabinet.
Brandouy,who has served as Director-General of France Éducation international since July 2024,will advise the Prime minister on key educational policy. Simultaneously, Cécile Laloux, previously an education advisor to the outgoing Prime Minister, has been named advisor for education, teaching, and research, also beginning September 15, 2025. These appointments signal a renewed focus on education within the French government as it prepares for upcoming legislative sessions and policy initiatives.
