Boston college Investigates Speech by Conservative activist nick Solheim
Boston College is reviewing a speech delivered on campus last week by Nick Solheim, a figure associated with the conservative institution American Moment, after the College Republicans chapter publicly disavowed his remarks. The probe comes as the chapter faces criticism for hosting Solheim and follows a social media post from the national College Republicans organization accusing the Boston College chapter of turning its back on a “strong ally.”
The controversy centers on Solheim’s address to the Boston College chapter, the content of which has not been publicly released in full. Solheim, who founded American Moment to cultivate young conservative leaders, confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that he was disavowed after the speech. The incident highlights ongoing tensions within the conservative movement and raises questions about the boundaries of acceptable discourse on college campuses. Boston College officials confirmed they are looking into the event to ensure it complied with university policies.
According to a post on X from the national College Republicans of America on October 24, solheim is “a great guy, smart, funny, patriotic, and fighting for the future of conservative students.” The post accused the Boston College chapter of failing to “stand up for him.”
Solheim himself posted on X Monday, stating, “I’ve been disavowed by the Boston College Republicans chapter for a speech I gave last week. I paid my own way in the hopes of recruiting more BC grads to participate in @AmericanMoment’s programs. You can be controversial or you can be a coward.”
Boston College’s Office of Student Involvement is currently reviewing the event, according to university spokesperson Jack Dunn.Dunn stated the review will determine if the event adhered to established campus guidelines for speakers and events. The outcome of the review and any potential consequences for the Boston College Republicans chapter remain unclear.
