BISMARCK – Motorists involved in a Friday crash east of Bismarck that injured members of the Mayville state University golf team have been identified by authorities. The collision, which briefly reduced Interstate 94 to one eastbound lane, occurred near a median crossover and resulted in charges for one driver.Tina Valeu, 54, of Mayville, North dakota, and Albert weber, 95, of Linton, North Dakota, sustained injuries in the Aug. 29th incident. ValeuS passenger,Kaylee De Rocquigny,20,of Portland,N.D.,was also hurt. All three were transported to CHI St. Alexius hospital in Bismarck for treatment. The crash impacts travelers on I-94 and raises questions about highway safety, especially regarding median crossovers. Weber has been charged with traffic violations, and the investigation remains ongoing.According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Weber was driving a 2017 Ford F150 eastbound on I-94 when he attempted to make a U-turn at a crossover in the median. Simultaneously, Valeu, driving a 2021 Chevrolet Express Van, was attempting to pass the pickup truck. The van struck the F150, causing the crash.
Valeu’s van also carried six members of the Mayville State University golf team: gracie Kacynzki, 20, of Geneseo, N.D.; Satchel tickle, 25, of Mayville, N.D.; and Erik bjorndahl, 20, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
Weber is charged with a care required and moving violation.Valeu is listed as a human resources coordinator at Mayville State University.
