ATSV Fischamend Aim for championship Despite Frist Defeat of the Season
ATSV Fischamend currently leads the 2nd Class East league with 21 points. The team boasts an remarkable offensive record, scoring 39 goals – the second-highest total in the league – and a league-leading defense, having conceded only five goals. However, thay recently experienced their first defeat since November 1st, 2024, losing 0-1 to FK Hainburg.
Coach Günther Kastner addressed the team’s emotional state following the loss: “After the first seven rounds, the mood was better as we won them all. In the last round we had our first defeat in about a year.Hopefully that didn’t take away the team’s self-confidence. After not losing a game in a year, we must have done a lot right, and I told the team that during the week. We hope that we can start a new series against SC Edelstahl.”
A key contributor to ATSV Fischamend’s success has been Luciano Pizzonia, who has scored 12 goals in eight games this season.Kastner praised Pizzonia’s form, stating: “He actually always scored his goals. He is currently in very good shape, has a lot of self-confidence and is physically fit.He also scores some of his goals from set pieces and he always practices them after training. That’s why it’s working very well this season too.”
The team has also benefited from a accomplished summer signing in Florin-Vladud Pop, who has netted seven goals in his first six competitive games. Kastner highlighted Pop’s impact beyond goalscoring: “he settled in very well from the first minute. He has a great character. We don’t have to say anything about him in terms of football, it fits wholly. He is an absolute team player and motivates the team. He helps the young players and motivates them. He fits perfectly into the team and gives commands in the front when pressing, so he is very vital for the current style of play.”
Kastner attributes the team’s strong performances to a shift in tactical approach. “This year we decided on pressing. Last year we worked with zone pressing. This year we have more or less frontal pressing and that works very well as very few opponents can break free from it. At the moment that is the key to success.” He also emphasized the team’s depth: “If the opponent gets tired, we still have the possibility to bring in fresh players who can turn a 3:1 into a 5:1 or 6:1. if there are injured players in the defense, we can replace them very well. We also have a very good goalkeeping team. Two of them have already been in action and are performing very well shown.”
Looking ahead, coach Kastner is clear about the club’s ambition: ”After the last few years, we shoudl become champions at some point. We were on a very good path until the last round. Now we have suffered a defeat. It’s about starting a series again. We are confident that we will get one or two more players in the winter. We will be very well positioned again in the spring and will see that we remain undefeated and win the championship title.”
