Apple Poised to release M5-Powered Devices,Including refreshed MacBook Pro and Vision Pro
Apple is preparing a wave of new product releases, potentially starting any day, centered around its next-generation M5 chip.Leaked information and reporting from bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicate imminent updates to the 14-inch MacBook Pro, Vision Pro, and a new iPad, signaling Apple’s continued commitment to silicon innovation and product diversification.
These updates arrive as Apple navigates a shifting landscape in spatial computing and portable computing. While the company has reportedly paused development on a full Vision Pro successor and a lighter “Vision Air” model, focusing instead on smart glasses, the refreshed Vision Pro with the M5 chip aims to refine the existing experience. Simultaneously, the M5-powered macbook Pro promises a performance boost, while future MacBook Pro generations are slated for more considerable redesigns with OLED displays and advanced connectivity.
Recent leaks from Russian technology channels on YouTube showcase equipment for a new iPad featuring the M5 chip, with no apparent design changes from previous models. Performance is projected to be approximately 12 percent higher in multi-core CPU calculations and 36 percent faster in graphics compared to the iPad with the M4 chip.
The refreshed vision Pro is expected to include the M5 chip and potentially an R2 chip for improved motion processing. Apple is also developing a more ergonomic and comfortable headband, and the device may be available in a “Space Black” colour.
Gurman reports the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip could arrive imminently, with M5 Pro and M5 max variants following in early 2026. This model is expected to feature the M5 chip as its sole hardware update.More notable changes – including 2nm M6 chips, OLED touch screens, and integrated cellular connectivity – are planned for MacBook Pro models in subsequent generations, aiming for a thinner design.
