Amgen Specialty Account Manager: A Career Opportunity
amgen is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialty Account Manager to join our team. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with key accounts, driving access to Amgen’s innovative therapies, and achieving sales targets within a defined territory.
Role Responsibilities:
The Specialty Account Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategic account plans to maximize Amgen’s impact within institutions and integrated delivery networks. This includes coordinating efforts across field teams to address the diverse needs of each account. A important portion of the role (approximately 80%, with potential for overnight and weekend travel) will be dedicated to in-person engagement with healthcare professionals and key decision-makers. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of site of care dynamics and reimbursement processes.
Qualifications:
Amgen offers multiple pathways to qualify for this Level 5 position:
* Doctorate Degree: Requires a doctoral degree coupled with a minimum of 2 years of combined experience in account management, sales, or commercial roles.
* Master’s Degree: A master’s degree necessitates 6 years of collective experience in account management, sales, and/or commercial functions.
* Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates with a bachelor’s degree must demonstrate 8 years of relevant experience encompassing account management, sales, and commercial activities.
* Associate Degree: An associate degree requires 10 years of combined experience in the aforementioned areas.
Desired Experience:
While not required, amgen highly values candidates with:
* Experience with buy-and-bill processes, particularly with a proven track record of success.
* Prior experience selling biologic or infusion therapies.
* Sales experience within Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, or rare/specialty disease states.
* Familiarity with pharmaceutical account management and the ability to collaborate effectively across field teams.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation & Benefits:
the annual base salary range for this Specialty Account Manager position in the U.S. is $154,126 to $183,750. actual compensation will be persistent based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
