San Diego Wave FC Duo Earn NWSL Second Team Honors
SAN DIEGO, CA – January 23, 2025 – San Diego Wave FC midfielders Delphine Cascarino and Kenza Dali have been named to the 2025 National Women’s Soccer league (NWSL) Best XI second Team, the league announced today. The selections recognize the impactful performances of both players throughout the 2024 season, solidifying the Wave FC’s presence among the league’s elite.
The NWSL best XI teams are determined through a weighted voting process that incorporates input from players, owners/general managers/coaches, media members, and fans. The voting breakdown allocates 50% weight to players, 25% to team personnel, 25% to media, and 10% to fans. Both Cascarino and Dali’s inclusion on the Second Team signifies widespread recognition of thier contributions to the Wave FC’s success and the NWSL landscape.
Alongside the Wave FC standouts, the 2025 NWSL Best XI Second Team includes Claudia Dickey (Seattle Reign FC) as goalkeeper, defenders Emily Sonnett (Gotham FC), Jordyn Bugg (Seattle Reign FC), Lily Reale (Gotham FC), and Hailie Mace (Kansas City Current), as well as midfielders/forwards Bia Zaneratto (Kansas City Current), Emma Sears (Racing Louisville FC), Taylor Flint (Racing Louisville FC), and Croix Bethune (Washington Spirit). All athletes selected to both the First and Second Teams will receive a cash bonus for their achievement.
