“I blame myself so much because, when Public Health did not want to reopen the bars, I said to myself: ‘Come on, people know that the virus must not spread, they are going to behave!’ ”Relates the co-owner and manager of the L’Esprit de Clocher pub, Nathalie Simard, in an interview at Journal.
“But now I understand what they were trying to anticipate. We have been doing this for two Fridays in a row. We simply decided that there would not be a third Friday, ”she says.
Groups of ten people also pushed the plug by insisting on wanting to be seated at the same table despite the health instructions applied by the place, even giving rise to schoolyard scenes. “The lady was pulling on the table while I told her that they had already been told not to move them”, says, still amazed, Mr.me Simard, who received an apology the next day.
“It’s unpleasant. When it happens once, okay. But twice, three times … “, she leaves hovering, maintaining that” 95% “of customers adhere perfectly to the instructions.
Accumulation
Mme Simard indicates that it is ultimately an “accumulation” that led her, with her spouse and partner, Eric Blouin, to no longer welcome clients for a time.
The Dieu du Ciel! Microbreweries in Saint-Jérôme and Le Naufrageur in Carleton-sur-Mer had to close for several days due to a case of COVID-19, each reopening on Saturday. However, such a closure for L’Esprit de Clocher would also mean the suspension of its production at the brewery.
“The message we would like to get across is to emphasize respect and mutual aid. It is a temporary situation, but the temporary one will last a long time if the recalcitrant continue to have this behavior there ”, warns Mme Simard, who does not rule out keeping his business closed for the rest of the summer season.
