Reportedly, on Tuesday, March 23, at about 10-30 pm, several “Molotov cocktails” flew into the windows of the mayor’s office. Passers-by harassed the intruder and called the police.
The fire damaged the tourist information desk, but prevented further fire from spreading.
“Fortunately, there were no casualties – the head of the mayor’s office lives in the same wing with his family,” the mayor of the city Alex Yants commented on the incident.
According to the detainee, he set fire to the city hall due to irritation from the endless quarantine restrictions.
The man had no previous convictions, but he had already come into view for systematic violations of quarantine. The prosecutor’s office decided to leave the man in custody pending trial.
