A Theatrical Haven Near Rue Montorgueil

Did you know?
The Rue Montorgueil is one of Paris’s oldest market streets, dating back to the 13th century. Its known for its bustling atmosphere, fresh produce, and artisan shops.
Designer Elena Alexopoulos of Stene Alexopoulos Agency, explains the vision behind the design: The apartment is located in a 1930s building.
The owner, a 38-year-old actor immersed in contemporary theater and ancient Greek tragedies, sought a space reflecting her artistic spirit.
The actor desired a home that walks a line between historical and contemporary elements.
Two specific requests shaped the design: a spacious living room and a luxurious bathtub for relaxation.

Design Inspiration: Carlo Scarpa and Ancient Greece
the design firm aimed to honor the building’s original era, drawing inspiration from Italian architect carlo Scarpa. Alexopoulos elaborates:
The design is inspired by ancient architecture, particularly with the reinterpretation of an ancient column for the dining table’s base, and Brutalism, through the use of raw materials such as concrete and marble. The owner’s theatrical universe influenced the design of the space, and we wanted to emphasize the original construction period of the building by looking to Carlo Scarpa for inspiration.
