She missed her deadline, but energy minister Tinne Van der Straeten (Groen) does not let that bother her. An agreement has finally been reached with Engie on the extension of two nuclear power plants, and the green minister is firmly convinced that everything will be completed by the end of 2026. To bridge the winters ahead, she is also prepared to let the oldest power stations run longer. “We now have the perfect starting position.”
