Time for Real Madrid to quench their thirst for trophies

Riyadh

Real Madrid failed to win any trophies in all competitions last season. Now, Los Blancos has the potential to quench that thirst.

Madrid failed to win the title at all in the 2020/2021 season. Karim Benzema et al only finished second in LaLiga, stopped in the top 32 Copa del Rey, then ran aground in the semifinals Spanish Super Cup and Champions League.

This season, fate turned around. Madrid has the potential to win several titles.

In LaLiga, Madrid still leads La Liga standings with 49 points, five points ahead of Sevilla until week 21. Foster child Carlo Ancelotti also still survive in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey and Champions League.

Meanwhile in Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid get to the finals. Los Galacticos beat Barcelona 3-2 in the semifinals, and will fight Athletic Bilbao in the finals.

The Spanish Super Cup final itself was held at the King Fahd International Stadium, Saudi Arabia, Monday (17/1/2022) early morning WIB. Ahead of that game, the Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois emphasized that his team was determined to win to atone for last season’s failure.

“The coach has motivated us a lot ahead of the game. Everyone knows we will play in the final, where we want to win, and that’s what he said. We don’t need to motivate ourselves, we play to win trophies,” Courtois said, as reported by Marca.

“Last year we didn’t win anything, and we are now quite hungry to win. The coach is already a person who leads the team well, and motivates you to win, that’s what the boss should do,” he explained.
