Tebow married Nel-Peters Monday at La Paris Estate in Cape Town, South Africa, in a traditional ceremony that combined both American and South African cultures. Pictures posted online show the groom in a tuxedo designed by Antar Levar, and his bride in a custom-made gown from David’s Bridal with diamond and pearl earrings from Marion Rehwinkel Jewelry.
“Forever,” Tebow wrote on Instagram, with the hashtag #tyingthetebow.
“Forever and Always,” Nel-Peters added.
Nel-Peters, who was crowned Miss South Africa and Miss Universe in 2017, revealed on Instagram that she’s also taking Tebow’s last name and will now be known as Demi-Leigh Tebow.
“We’re both very traditional,” the 24-year-old model told People magazine. “We wanted to look back at the wedding and see that it was intimate, elegant, and traditional. We definitely wanted it to be something that we could look back on and know that nothing was dated. We want to remember this day for the rest of our lives.”
“I’ve been waiting my entire life for someone special, who I can spend the rest of my life with. I was waiting for the right person to come along. And now I’m marrying Demi,” Tebow added. “I can’t wait to see what our future holds. All of my dreams have come true. It was 100 percent worth the wait.”
Tebow, 32, will soon start his second season with the Syracuse Mets, the minor league baseball affiliate of the New York Mets. He previously played baseball in high school, but made football his primary focus at the University of Florida, where he won the Heisman Trophy as a quarterback, and had a brief NFL career with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets.
Tebow’s Triple-A season ended last July after he suffered a lacerated left pinky while fielding a ball that took a bad bounce in the outfield. He’s hoping to improve on his 2019 stats — hitting .163 with four home runs, 19 RBIs and 98 strikeouts in 264 plate appearances spanning 77 games — for a chance at making the MLB.
People reports Tebow even resisted over-indulging at the wedding with a Keto-friendly Groom’s cake so he can be ready for spring training.
“We choose a cheesecake,” Mrs. Tebow told the magazine. “That way, Tim can stick to his diet.”
Tebow and Nel-Peters got engaged in 2019 after more than a year of dating. See more photos from the ceremony and rehearsal:
