San José State‘s Tim Miles Earns Southwest Minnesota State University Hall of Honor Recognition

SAN JOSE, Calif. ⁤- San José State University men’s basketball head‍ coach Tim Miles has been⁤ selected for induction​ into the Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) Athletics Hall of Honor. The proclamation was made by SMSU earlier today, recognizing Miles as one of eight esteemed individuals​ comprising the Hall of ‌Honor class of 2026.

This induction represents the highest athletic honor ‌bestowed by SMSU, acknowledging Miles’ significant contributions⁣ and achievements during his ⁤tenure with the mustangs from 1997 to 2001. Prior to his arrival, the ‍SMSU basketball program ‍had experienced⁣ limited success, with ⁤onyl a single winning season in the preceding decade.

Miles dramatically transformed the program, compiling an remarkable ‌78-39 record over his four⁣ seasons. The pinnacle of his success came in ⁣2001, when ​the Mustangs achieved a program-best 28 wins. ‌That year, SMSU secured both the⁣ Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC)⁢ Championship and the NCAA North central Regional Championship, culminating in⁣ a berth in the ⁤Division II Elite Eight.

In recognition of this remarkable turnaround,⁤ Miles was honored⁢ with⁤ both the NSIC and North Central ​Region Coach of ‍the Year awards.His leadership and strategic acumen were instrumental in elevating⁣ SMSU basketball to unprecedented heights.

Currently ‍in his ⁣fifth season leading the spartans,‍ Coach Miles is focused ‍on continuing the program’s upward trajectory ⁣at San José State. The team aims to qualify for postseason⁤ play for the third time in four seasons⁤ – ⁢a first in the university’s history.
