“Tilburgers.nl Announces “Type 1 Diabetes: A Radio Play about Life’s Challenges””

Guest contribution by Jaimy Klaassen from Tilburg.

Life with type 1 diabetes is put to the test for many young people.

On Saturday, March 25, the first episode of the audio drama ‘Life Sucks’ was launched. The radio play is a thriller and is about young people with type 1 diabetes, who are facing their student life. The combination of self-care and student life creates a lot of commotion among the students. Friendships come under pressure, diabetes seems to go its own way, narcotics create life-threatening situations and much more…

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition in which the pancreas no longer works properly. About 100,000 people in the Netherlands have type 1 diabetes. Jaimy Klaassen, creator of ‘Life Sucks’, has had diabetes since he was twelve and knows better than anyone what it’s like to combine his diabetes with life as a student. “Many people don’t know what diabetes is and what it does to people, in this case young people,” explains Jaimy. With ‘Life Sucks’ he wants to draw attention to diabetes in an informative, but fictional way.

Starting March 25, there will be a new episode of the audio drama every week. Get your earphones or headphones ready and make sure you don’t miss anything. You can listen via YouTube or various streaming services, such as Spotify.
