TikTok fights Trump ban in court | Financial

“To make sure justice is done and our company and our users are treated fairly, we have no choice but to challenge the decree in the legal system,” said the company spokesman. It is not yet known in which court the case will serve.

Trump signed a decree in early August banning all transactions with ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, after 45 days, because he fears that the Chinese communist regime is collecting all kinds of data through TikTok. The president accepted the possibility that an American group would buy the platform. But that must be done within 90 days.

Objections

TikTok said it strongly disagreed with Trump’s objections. The company said it has been trying to find a constructive solution with the government for nearly a year. “However, we have encountered a lack of progress and a government that is not paying attention to the facts and is trying to interfere with negotiations between private companies.”

The company claims it has never given data from US users to the Chinese government. The Beijing government has labeled Trump’s action political. The White House did not want to respond to the news from TikTok against the Reuters news agency.
